Ed. note: From an e-mail I received making me aware of the auction. The auction runs until Dec. 6th!
His Holiness the Dalai Lama, head of state and spiritual leader of Tibet, is auctioning an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet him at the Newark Peacemaking Summit to raise funds for Tibet House. The experience is live for bidding at leading charity auction site charitybuzz through December 6th at: http://www.charitybuzz.com/catalog_items/218612
Tibet House and The Infinite Possibilities Foundation, with the support and blessing of His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet, and the Honorable Mayor Cory A. Booker of Newark, are organizing the Newark Peacemaking Summit, a high-profile event on the subject of nonviolence. The auction winner will enjoy prime seating and lunch for ten at the summit, a V.I.P. entrance, a sponsor listing, admission to the closing reception, and a small audience and private photo taken with His Holiness The Dalai Lama.
The Summit will highlight the common elements of peacemaking as a basis for creatively engaging basic human potential to solve problems faced by individuals, families, communities, nations, and, ultimately, all beings in the world we share. His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be joined by other Nobel Laureates on five two-hour panel discussions along with a moderator, a youth activist, international and national speakers, and local leaders. After each panel, there will be smaller group workshops led by various speakers to explore each topic more in depth.
Proceeds of the auction will benefit Tibet House, a nonprofit organization that promotes and preserves Tibetan culture. Other items on the auction block to benefit Tibet House include cooking lessons with Eric Ripert, a safari for two in the mountains of Kenya, an autographed guitar from Sting, and much more.
